Winter Solstice Vibes

Six months ago, I went to an event at The Yard in Alderley Edge, Cheshire, to celebrate the summer solstice. I was so enchanted by The Pickering's event and hospitably, that the next morning I decided to write a post calling all spiritually like minded folk and to offer a glimpse into the night (Here's a link to my summer solstice blog post)

A few weeks ago I was over the moon, pun intended, when I received an email from Sadie Pickering kindly inviting me to their Winter Solstice Ball as their guest blogger. I was happy to hear that once again I'd get to see Kirsty Almeida perform live, which is an experience in itself!

Once again, the quirky dress code was a glimpse of what was to be expected on the night: Wild Winter... go with your imagination: Nature, flowers, headdresses, feathers, black lace, velvet, the wild and the magical...

...Any excuse to do a little online shopping ;-)
Velvet boots - £37.99 Missguided
Sun, Moon and Stars skirt - £22 Motel Rocks
Sun statement necklace - £12 Topshop

Every time I pop into The Yard, its magically evolved to fit the occasion...

Tables were laden with candles, crackers and crystals!

As I made my way through to the bar, I found myself in a wonderland of candles, wine and spells! The lovely barmen were adorned with masquerade and animal masks... it was like entering Narnia!

The pinnacle of the night had to be the scrumptious three course meal cooked by Arthur Potts, followed by the evenings entertainment: Kirsty Almeida & the Troubadours! I managed to take a video of the band performing a spellbinding rendition of Joni Mitchell's 'River', which you can find on my Instagram @DaisyWyer . There's also a video there that I recorded in the wee hours of Sadie and some friends jamming!

As I went to the event on my lonesome, Sadie was very kind enough to seat me on her family's table, where I was lucky enough to meet lots of creatives and indulge in some fascinating chats. I was actually sat next to Sadie's cousin, Catherine Laura, who is an unbelievably talented underwater and fashion photographer. Here's a shot of Sadie that Catherine captured this summer in Deià, Majorca...

I hope you all had a cosy Winter Solstice and made some BIG wishes for 2014!

If you're ever in the area, I can't recommend celebrating the solstice at The Yard enough. After a glass (or two) of vino, you'll feel like you've been transported to the masquerade ball from Bowie's 1986 Labyrinth.

I'm already looking forward to my next visit!

You remind me of the Babe!

My Muse

I can't believe it's been four months since I last blogged! So much has happened since my last post back in August; some good, some bad... but all for the best! I've finished sixth form, spent the summer working as PR & Marketing Assistant at Nutrition Rocks, worked at V Festival, travelled to Prague with seven of my closest friends and experienced love in all its treacherous glory.

But most importantly, I'm now officially a Londoner and have begun my Creative Writing degree at Greenwich University. I love love love my course and have made some pretty amazing friends for life!

To dip my toes back into blogging, I thought I'd share a few bits and bobs that have been inspiring me lately creatively and existentially...
